Call for Submissions: Get involved in Montana Fibershed's biggest event of the year: Farm-to-Fashion!
Last October, when our event had to be postponed, we were disappointed, of course, but not disheartened. Over the winter months, we continued planning, refining ideas, and reaching out to let everyone know that, oh yeah Baby, it's happening in 2022! We have reopened the call for submissions to the fashion show and encourage the involvement of all you Montana makers and designers. The new deadline for submitting your entry is Aug. 15. To review the details of the event: Save the date of Saturday, October 8th, 2022, when our event will take place at the Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture in downtown Bozeman. From 9:00 to 4:00, the Emerson ballroom will hold the first ever Montana Fibershed Marketplace, with vendors from around the state offering Montana fiber, yarns, and locally made products. From 2:00 to 3:00, we will host a panel discussion followed by Q & A in the Emerson auditorium, featuring speakers who are expert in the many facets of the fibershed movement, such as creating a brand with Montana wool, the many benefits of using natural fibers, the economic benefit of growing the Montana textile economy, and the ways in which fiber producers and users can improve the land and combat climate change.
At 4:00, the Farm-to-Fashion Show will kick off in the auditorium, showcasing the work of Montana fiber artists and designers. Garments are being entered in six categories. There will be prizes awarded for each category. After the show, join us for appetizers and a no-host bar as we greet friends old and new, and get a chance to view the fashion show garments up close, and meet the panel speakers.
